He is the leading marsiya writer of the present era and the Urdu media refer to him as ''asr e hazir ka Meer''. Amrohi started writing poetry early in his life and has written almost every form of Urdu poetry, including Hamd, naat, nazm, ghazal, qasida, salaam and manqabat). As of 2011 he was most famous for his 30 elegiac marsiya. ==Early life and education== Azeem Amrohvi was born on April 29, 1945, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh to a very religious family. He was the first child of father Noor ul hasan and mother Raziya bano. He lost his mother as an infant and was raised by his grandmother. After completing his Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from Lucknow University, he joined Food Corporation of India, but continued his education while working. After achieving many degree courses in Urdu like Adeeb, kamil, dabeer, fazil he completed his M.A in Urdu and started writing poetry and prose. His book ''Marsiya Nigaraan e Amroha'' established his reputation, receiving accolades from critics and readers.
